Partner, Shapiro Negotiations Institute (SNI)
Jeff Cochran has turned negotiation into both an art form and a business. For over two decades, he’s coached teams, designed training programs, and delivered sessions that range from forty-five minutes to three days for audiences as small as five executives and as large as one thousand attendees.
Since joining SNI in 2000, he’s worked across six continents and collaborated with everyone from Fortune 500 companies to the Tony Robbins Platinum Partnership, an exclusive group personally coached by Robbins himself.
Experience and Expertise
Jeff’s career began unconventionally as a U.S. Peace Corps Volunteer in Nepal, where he implemented a micro-lending project that helped poor farmers and entrepreneurs establish borrowing cooperatives. This grassroots experience shaped his distinctive approach to cross-cultural negotiation.
He later managed over 250 accounts at Tessco Technologies, a $196 million company, overseeing major clients like Mitsubishi Electronics while training sales professionals.
Today, Jeff’s negotiation expertise spans diverse industries. His clients include financial institutions (Barclays, PwC, J.P. Morgan Chase), pharmaceutical companies (Novo Nordisk, Sanofi-aventis, Bristol Myers Squibb), telecommunications firms (Verizon, Comcast), government agencies (Defense Acquisition University, Department of Treasury), sports franchises (Chicago Bears, Baltimore Ravens), and media organizations (ESPN, Hearst Corporation, Madison Square Garden).
Education and Personal
Jeff holds a B.Sc. in Agricultural Economics from Cornell University and is a member of Mensa International Society. His international experience runs deep—he’s lived and worked extensively throughout Asia and delivered programs across Canada, Argentina, Colombia, Brazil, England, France, Germany, Spain, Hungary, Netherlands, South Africa, Malaysia, UAE, Thailand, China, Japan, Fiji, Philippines, and Australia. He lives in Fallston, Maryland, with his wife and two children.
