Brad Beeler spent 25 years sitting across from people who didn’t necessarily want to talk to him. As a U.S. Secret Service Special Agent, he interviewed victims, witnesses, informants, and suspects in cases involving financial crime, homicide, child exploitation, and national security threats. Getting them to open up became his specialty. During 17 years as a federal polygraph examiner, Brad conducted more criminal examinations than anyone in Secret Service history. His work on crimes against children was especially notable, and earned him the agency’s Special Agent of the Year award.
Along the way, Brad also served on President George H. W. Bush’s protective detail and protected foreign heads of state. His final assignment was at the National Center for Credibility Assessment, where he trained thousands of federal law enforcement and intelligence professionals.
Nowadays, he takes those lessons into corporate training rooms and helps people get past rehearsed answers to the information they need most.
Experience and Expertise
Brad has joked that some interviews required “duct tape on my forehead” so his face didn’t show what he was thinking. A flash of disgust or disbelief could end the conversation, particularly in the crimes-against-children cases that defined much of his work. He learned to keep listening when an answer was difficult to hear and stay genuinely curious about how the person had arrived there.
Nothing in a sales meeting compares with a homicide investigation, and Brad doesn’t pretend it does. The discipline still carries over because buyers, employees, and negotiating partners also say less once they feel judged. Brad helps participants hear where their assumptions have entered the conversation and respond more thoughtfully when someone starts closing off.
He has 25 years’ worth of stories to work with and enough humor to keep serious material from becoming heavy.
Education and Personal
Brad holds a master’s degree in criminology from the University of Missouri–St. Louis and is based in Columbia, South Carolina. His 2026 book, Tell Me Everything: A Secret Service Agent’s Proven Strategies for Earning Trust, Revealing the Truth, and Communicating with Anyone, brings the interviews and lessons of his Secret Service career into ordinary conversations at work and home. It’s also a good introduction to Brad himself: curious, direct, and much funnier than a Secret Service polygraph examiner has any obligation to be.
